whereas in many USA states, including Florida, the minimum age of consent to have sex is 18. Does that make sense? How can you be old enough to agree to risk your life but not old enough to have sex?

Some states, including Florida, have a carve-out if the person you are intending is have sex with is of a close age to you. But why does it make sense that you’re mature enough to have sex at 17 with a spotty teenager but not with an adult?

The age of consent in Georgia is 16. A 25 year old can live with his 17 year old girlfriend in Georgia without any problem. But if they vacation in Florida he (or she) transforms into a rapist.
